| Incident Summary: | Allegation that an Elk Grove United player was sent off in a State Cup semi-final. The referee failed to report the send-off. The player did not sit out a game and played in the State Cup final which Elk Grove United won. |
| Comments: | The NorCal Handbook is clear that if a player is sent-off but not reported, the team/ club is responsible for sitting the player out for a game. That did not happen in this situation meaning Elk Grove United played an illegal player in the match. Elk Grove United is fined $500, the coach of the Elk Grove team, Jaime Sierra, is suspended from all NorCal competitions until December 20, 2024. The result of the game is declared a 3-0 forfeit in favor of San Francisco United.
On appeal, the coach suspension and fine were removed. The match stands as a forfeit. |
